The co-founder and CEO of Ola Cabs and Ola Electric said that he ‘Strongly disagrees’ with the statement of Elon Musk and SS Kim who asked for a lowering of import tax on Electric Vehicles. 

 

“Strongly disagree with both. Let’s have confidence in our ability to build indigenously and also attract global OEMs to build in India, not just import. We won’t be the first country to do so!”

He wrote this over a tweet replying to Elon Musk And SS Kim.

Earlier, Elon musk tweeted about the High Import Taxes of India saying this is delaying the entry of Tesla into India. Kim told Autocar India “Lower duties will help grow the EV market, ” the most interesting thing is Ola and Ola Electric received an investment of  $300 million from Kia And Hyundai some years ago. They collaborated with each other to build India Specific Electric Vehicles and infrastructure.


Bhavish Aggarwal already announced his entry into the EV market and he is in the two-wheeler category now Ola electric has received over one lakh of Prelaunch bookings within 24 hours. Ola Electric scooter is expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.2lakh, and they will compete with the likes of Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450x, and TVS iQube.


All Of The Companies are Making these efforts because The electric vehicle market in India is likely to be around Rs 50,000 crore by 2025, says a report by Avendus Capital.
