GOOGLE AIRTEL BECOME A PARTNER TO GROW DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM

Airtel and Google become partners by entering into a multi-year agreement to grow the Indian digital ecosystem. Google will invest $1 billion in the telecom company as a part of the Google for India digitization fund. From the investment, $700  million will be invested in equity shares by buying each share for 734 and Google will acquire 1.28% of ownership in the telecom operator. 

While $300 million will be invested in commercial agreement which will help enhance Airtel offerings that cover the ranges of devices to consumers via innovative affordability programs as well as other offerings aimed at accelerating access and digital inclusion across India’s digital ecosystem. As part of the agreement, the company will try to bring down the barriers to accessing smartphones at a range of price points in partnership with various device manufacturers. Companies are planning to maintain the agreement for a long time to build specific network domains for 5G and another standard. 

Airtel is already using AIRTEL 5G ready evolved packet core & software designed network platform and plans to explore scaling up the deployment of google network experience to their customers. At present, the Mittal family and Singtel are the key investors in the telecom company and the rest is public. While the Mittal family holds 24.13 percent of shares and Singtel holds around 31.72 % of shares. Airtel google shares the vision to grow Indian digital dividends through innovative products with our future-ready network, digital platform last-mile distribution, and payment ecosystem we look forward to working closely with Google to increase the depth and breadth of Indians digital ecosystem said Sunil Bharti Mittal chairman of Bharti Airtel.

These agreements will increase digital options as the company already serves millions of small and medium businesses with its enterprise connectivity offerings. 

This partnership will focus on the accessibility and affordability of smartphones. across price ranges and will continue to expand their partnership.
